Division for Research in Advanced Materials (DREAM) came in to being in 2003 with the vision of devoloping advanced, functional materials to meet the technological requirements of the present century. Over the past few years ,this division has evolved in to one of the growing centers in the devolopement of rechargeable Li-ion cells based on novel electrode and electrolyte materials and Synthetic Metals from highly conducting and ordered polymer systems. Presently the division is actively involved in identifying the most suitable materials for realising cost effective and efficient Light Emitting Diodes(LED) based on novel semiconducting polymers and small organic molecules. During the last five years the divsion has made significant research contributions in the areas of Rechargeable Li-ion cells,  Polymer nanocomposites, Highly conducting polymers, Nonlinear optics, Nanophotonics and Bio-nanophotonics.
